I like to think Ocarina is there in some way, watching over his successor, making sure the kid doesn't make an ass of himself or something.
In a lot of ways TP was a very melancholy game. Riding over Hyrule Field or through the Gerudo desert, knowing that everyone from Ocarina of Time was long gone, was very sad.
